Welcome to our Back To School Series: Paleo Kids Lunchbox Ideas! We are so excited to kick this week off and hopefully breathe some new life into your kiddos lunch and snack routines. Our goal is to provide healthy options that kids will love that are allergen free including gluten, soy, grain, dairy, nut (with one BONUS exception) and sugar free!
We definitely know how kids lunches go. If there is not some sort of planning involved it’s easy to throw in junk food and not the most nutritious of items. You’ll be happy to know that all of my lunches this week are super nutritious and took less than 5 minutes to put together! Oh yeah! Because ain’t no one got time for gourmet school lunches, puhhlease!
Can I just say, one of the BIGGEST things I love about the Paleo Movement, is that now that so many people are doing it, there are actually convenience products you can purchase online or at your local store so not everything has to be made from scratch anymore. That is a massive hallelujah in my book! During this series you will see us showcase these products that we love and use, in addition to some of our quick homemade school lunchbox staples.
Here is my Day 1 Paleo Kids Lunchbox Idea
The Breakdown:
The good ole lettuce wrap. My daughter is a HUGE fan of the wrap and if you remember, so am I! For this lettuce wrap I just took a piece of iceberg lettuce and put my favorite Paleo Mayo inside. Then I added some scrumptious Applegate Roasted Turkey Breast and Applegate Uncured Black Forest Ham and rolled it up. BOOM!
Then on the veggies and fruit front, I added some organic baby carrots and delicious organic pineapple chunks.
For the snack I threw in a That’s It. Fruit bar. These are natural, non-GMO fruit bars that have 2 whole servings of fruit in each bar and nothing else. Which means NO preservatives! These are AWESOME! Everyday my daughter has to bring a lunch plus one snack to school. I like having a convenient snack for her on hand. I also love keeping these in my purse for her for those 50,000 times during the day she says she’s hungry even though she’s been eating like a teenage boy all day! Can someone say growth spurt?!
The drink is our favorite coconut water which is Harmless Harvest Coconut Water. We love, love, love this coconut water in our house. Some coconut water tastes just dreadful and some are processed all gross and weird. This one meets our very strict criteria as well as get’s a massive thumbs up in the taste department. One cool kid bonus of this drink is that it normally turns pink after it’s bottled! Color + Kids = Enjoyment and Consumption. This is a great drink to give your kids on a hot day or a day that they have lots of physical exertion since it replenishes the electrolytes without all the added junk of those “vitamin” waters.
The containers that you will see us use in this series are from U Konserve. We LOVE them! At first when I got this container (pictured above) I was a little concerned that it wouldn’t be big enough or have enough dividers for our needs, but I was wrong! I’ve got no problem admitting that! The divider is adjustable (or you can take the divider out altogether) and the stainless steel container itself is SO deep! You can fit so much more in than you may think. I’ve been very pleased with this. It helps us cut down on waste and the stainless steel container is dishwasher safe, thank you Jesus! Although the plastic lid should be washed by hand.
We hope you share this blog series with friends and family and on social media. Us parents need to stick together and help one another out! Stay tuned for Day 2 from Kara!
