Convenience Shopping Let’s Me Live!
So here’s the deal. Amazon Prime gives me LIFE! I am a total weekly Prime user for anything and everything. Christmas shopping would not have happened if it weren’t for Prime. And the Amazon Prime Now App….life saver! Thank God we have a Sprouts in our area that delivers in a 2-hour window, I mean come on! Groceries delivered to my door? Yes, please!
Driving all over hell’s half acre to find this here and that there is not my idea of a good time. If I can sit my bum behind a computer and do a few clicky poos, I’m all about it. It allows me extra time to rest, breath, blog, parent or any other thing I would rather do with my time.
So, when Thrive Market came onto my radar, I was intrigued. However, I didn’t want another annual membership fee. I am a highly satisfied Amazon shopper, but I signed up for their 30 day free trial anyway to investigate.
Here’s What I Got!
Here are the goodies I bought on my first order plus the total cost from Thrive Market in comparison with Amazon.
Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Mayo $7.45 (2) vs. Amazon $10.50 + $6.30 shipping
Julian Bakery Paleo Wraps $7.95 vs. Amazon $10.75 free shipping
Simply Organic Ground Turmeric $3.25 vs. Amazon $5.29 + $5.49 shipping
Spectrum Naturals Non-GMO Refined Avocado Oil $9.95 vs. Amazon $15.98 free shipping
Bob’s Red Mill Baking Soda $2.05 vs. Amazon $6.39 free shipping
Paleonola Original Grain Free Granola $7.45 vs. Amazon $10.98 free shipping
Kettle & Fire Beef Bone Broth $8.95 vs. Amazon $15.99 + $4.95 shipping
Go Raw Organic Sprouted Pumpkin Seeds $10.95 (2) vs. Amazon $14.15 free shipping
The Thrive Market total was $76.40 However, this order was $57.75 because I received 25% off of my first order. That won’t always be the case for future orders so I wanted to show both totals.
The total with Amazon for the same order would have been $131.42. YIKES! My savings shopping through Thrive Market is $55.02. Wowzers! And if you have a coupon like I did for 25% off, the savings is $73.67!
3 Factors Comprised My Investigation
Those totals above pretty much sold me, but I did want to take time to investigate a few factors during my free 30 day trial period.
-MEMBERSHIP FEE: Joining Thrive (we’re on a first name basis) will cost you $59.95 annually. Considering that the savings on my first order with my coupon covers that, I say woo hoo! When you purchase through Thrive they have free shipping at $49. And let’s be real, we are buying high quality products. Racking up $49 ain’t no thang! For full disclosure, if I did not meet that free shipping minimum, the cost for shipping would be $5.95. That may vary in your area. *Have you seen that Amazon just raised the price of free shipping from $35 to $49? If you don’t have Amazon Prime, this is a wash now.
-DELIVERY TIMELINE: I have also been super spoiled with Prime and I get really impatient if my order is not at my door within a day or 2 so I was curious to see how long shipping would take. My order with Thrive showed up in less than 48 hours. It may be that I am close to their headquarters? Whatever the reason, I’ll take it! If you are outside of California, it will probably take a few more days.
– THE COMPANY ITSELF: They carry over 2,500 high quality food, supplements, home, personal care and beauty products from over 400 brands on the market. It is delivered to your door (holler!) and 25-50% off retail prices. They are so committed to helping families get quality products and savings that if you don’t make your membership fee back in savings by the end of the year, they will automatically give you the difference back in Thrive Market credit when you renew. If that weren’t enough, the peeps over at Thrive are after my own heart. For every paid membership they donate a membership to a low income family. LOVE!

Honestly, before I did the research and price comparisons I didn’t think Thrive would totally be worth it. We already pay for Prime and I thought if I spend an extra few dollars here and there on shipping through Amazon it may be a wash and not totally a good overall value for my family. I’m really glad that I did the price comparison to look at the cold hard facts. Crazy, right?
For this chronically ill mama, Thrive Market has been a huge blessing. We officially stamp Thrive Market as:

My only concern was how it would compare once shipping cost is added in, but it sounds like as long as you spend over $49 the shipping is free, so in that case Thrive would be a better deal for sure. Thanks!
Hi Jenny! You bring up a great point! I updated the post with what shipping would run me here in California if I did not meet the minimum order total. Thanks for reading!
